Ambience:
Sekhmet is one of the coziest lounge clubs and restaurants in Alwarpet, Chennai. It is named after the lion-faced warrior Goddess. If you want your weekends to be electric, then chill at this newest spot in town. The large plasma screen display embossed with the wall sweeps away your attention. The splashy interiors with Egyptian paintings are a feast for the eyes and the high-spirited DJ tracks instantly boosts our mood. The lounge is spread across three levels with comfortable seating arrangements and a separate VIP lounge access with a snooker table for those who want their private space.
Food:
Sekhmet has a vast array of cuisines to choose from – Italian, Continental, Thai, and Indian. We started off with Fiesta Nachos, layered with yellow tortilla chips racked with beans and topped with queso sauce, sour cream, sliced olives & jalapenos which was so good that we couldn’t stop at one. While we were busy binging on it, a lip-smacking starter – Bharwan Paneer Tikka, roasted on a tandoor served with tangy coriander chutney was served. For those who love seafood, Ajwaini fish tikka, marinated with spices and roasted in charcoal and Chimichurri grilled prawns marinated, grilled and topped with creamy chimichurri sauce are a must try. If you’re craving for Hummus and Pita bread, you should go for a classic mezze platter with Za’atar pita bread and lavash, cheese falafel, hummus made with chef’s favourite flavours from the Mediterranean section left us craving for more. Banjara Murgh Tikka, made with freshly garden picked Indian herbs and Spicy Lemon Chicken, tossed in chilli coriander sauce with a hint of lemon juice are finger licking delicious. Veg Pizza topped with sundried tomatoes and yellow cheddar along with American corn, bell peppers was undeniable. The mushroom stuffed pocket dumplings wrapped with red cabbage dough and chicken dumplings wrapped with beetroot flavoured dough drew our attention and are pure match made by the chef.
The showstoppers though, would be the Prime-cut Tenderloin steak sizzler, served with a juicy piece of tenderloin meat, buttered veggies, fries and herbed rice and the Thai green curry served with fragrant jasmine rice. If you have a sweet tooth, then end it with Tres Leches, sponge cake soaked with three types of milk and Fudgy mocha, a rich chocolate dessert.
