Grand Mercure Bengaluru at Gopalan Mall has curated a special Drunch Box reminiscing monsoon delicacies from all across the country. The “Monsoon Street Trail” is the first edition of the hotel’s “STREATS” series focusing on bringing the much-missed street food flavours to the palates.

At the heart of this monsoon box is Vada Pav, the quintessential Indian Slider, made of crunchy deep-fried aloo fritters sandwiched between warm fluffy pavs and slathered with a selection of chutneys.

Sharing the limelight with Vada Pav is Bangalore’s very own KBC or Khara Bun Congress. The brainchild of an iconic “Iyengar Bakery”, the humble Khara bun congress features a hearty serving of congress peanut masala, in a soft buttered masala bun. Fabled to be named as a parody to the split of Congress Party in 1969, the congress peanut masala consists of roasted, deskinned and split peanuts tossed in a spicy dry masala.

The drunch box also features Punjabi Aloo Samosa or Moong Dal Kachori with Saunth Chutney, Chicken or Paneer Pakoda and Pyaaz Pakoda with Mint Chutney, Mumbai Toastie, Kolkata Kathi Rolls and Tikkas.

“For most of us monsoon is incomplete without that steaming cup of chai and crunchy snacks. This year we wanted to recreate the experience for our patrons in the comforts of their homes” says Suvaranjan Banerjee, Executive chef, Grand Mercure Bengaluru at Gopalan Mall. With the Drunch Box the hotel ensures authentic street flavours while adhering to Accor’s ALLSAFE global standards of safety and hygiene.

The monsoon themed Drunch Box is available on pre-order from Friday to Saturday.
